DANANG, Vietnam – US President Donald Trump arrived on Friday in the Vietnamese city of Danang to take part in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit.
Trump arrived in Danang after concluding a two-day state visit to China.
The US president is expected to present his vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region in his speech to APEC delegates, according to the White House, and reinforce the US’ commitment to free trade after pulling out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement earlier this year.
Trump is scheduled to take part in a meeting with US military veterans and attend the gala dinner which concludes the APEC summit on Saturday.
The US president then plans to visit Hanoi, where he is set to make a state visit to Vietnam, before leaving for Manila on Sunday to attend a summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
