Guatemala Arrests U.S. Man Wanted for Murder in California

GUATEMALA CITY – A U.S. man on the FBI’s 100 Most Wanted list was apprehended in Guatemala and will be expelled from the Central American nation, authorities said on Monday.

Edward Lee Leblanc was apprehended in Cuyotenango, a town in the southern province of Suchitepequez, and is to be handed over to immigration authorities for deportation, police said in a statement.

The FBI has been pursuing Leblanc in connection with a 2010 murder in California.

The U.S. fugitive was caught in the course of an operation by special police units targeting gangs engaged in extortion, the national police said.
