15 Dead, 33 Injured in 2 Accidents in Bolivia

LA PAZ At least 15 people were killed and 33 others injured in two accidents involving vehicles that plunged into ravines in western and central Bolivia, police and media reports said Thursday.

The worst of the two accidents occurred around 4:00 a.m. near Bombeo, a town in the central province of Cochabamba, where a bus traveling from Potosi to Cochabamba city went into a ravine, killing at least 12 people.

The El Dorado company bus, which was carrying more than 50 people, was speeding at the time of the accident, media reports said, citing police.

Thirty people aboard the bus were injured, police said.

The other accident happened around midnight, when a vehicle plunged into a ravine in Yungas de La Paz, an area near the coca-growing town of Asunta, killing three people and injuring three others, Radio Erbol reported. EFE
