Spainís Foreign Minister Meets in Havana with Cuban Counterpart

HAVANA Ė Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo met on Monday with Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez for talks on bilateral relations.

Garcia-Margallo, who arrived over the weekend, began the official portion of his second visit to Cuba by laying a wreath at the monument to Cuban independence hero Jose Marti before heading to the foreign ministry for discussions and lunch with Rodriguez.

Also in Havana is Spainís minister of development, Ana Pastor, who is set to meet with the Cuban ministers of transport, Adel Yzquierdo, and construction, Rene Mesa.

Pastor and Garcia-Margallo, according to the official agenda, will hold joint talks with the minister of foreign trade and investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, and with Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas.

There is still no confirmation on whether a meeting with Cuban President Raul Castro will take place.

Garcia-Margallo and Pastor are scheduled to return together to Madrid on Monday night.
