LIMA – A fire on the outskirts of Lima destroyed about 150 dwellings and injured one person, Peruvian firefighters said.
The fire broke out Saturday in Ancon, a district in the Pampas de Piedras Gordas neighborhood, and was brought under control, fire department spokesman Daniel Palomares told Radio Programas del Peru, or RPP.
About 14 fire units and two tanker trucks were needed to put out the blaze, which was caused by mishandling of a container of gas.
This was the second major blaze in Peru in less than a week.
A fire Thursday night burned down a huge Education Ministry warehouse, destroying educational materials worth $100 million.
