LIMA – Five people were killed and a dozen others injured Monday when a bus collided with a truck near the Pacific coast resort of Pucusana, Peruvian police said.
The bus, which was en route from the southern province of Cañete to Lima, crashed into a disabled truck that stopped on the Panamericana Sur highway.
“After parking because of a mechanical problem, I turned off the engine and put on my hazard lights, as well as (putting out) the safety cones,” the truck driver, Efrain Condori, told RPP radio.
Killed in the collision were a Brazilian citizen, a 15-year-old boy, a pregnant woman and two men, authorities said. The 12 injured survivors were taken to clinics in the coastal towns of Chilca and Asia and to a medical facility in Lima. EFE
