LIMA – One man died and nine other people were injured when an interprovincial bus and a truck collided on a southern Peruvian mountain road, the Cuzco regional Highway Police said.
The accident occurred just after midnight on Thursday morning at Kilometer 49 on the Andean highway linking the town of Espinar with the city of Arequipa.
The bus hit the side of the oncoming truck for as yet unknown reasons.
The body of the 32-year-old fatality was taken to the Espinar morgue after he died while being transported to a hospital in the same town.
One injured person was treated at the Espinar hospital and the other eight people hurt in the crash were taken to hospitals in Arequipa for evaluation and treatment.
