LIMA Ė Swedish retailer H&M has opened a store in Lima, the companyís second location in South America, bringing its first H&M HOME store to the region, company executives said.
H&M CEO Karl-Johan Persson inaugurated the store in Peruís capital on Saturday.
The three-story store is in the Jockey Plaza shopping center in Limaís Surco district, where shoppers will be able to purchase clothing and accessories for men, women and children, as well as household products.
The Swedish retailer opened its first South American store in Chile in 2013.
Persson cut the ribbon and welcomed shoppers who had camped out overnight to be among the first to enter the store.
Some 2,000 people lined up to try to get one of the 1,300 gift cards ranging in value from about $20 to $220 that the retailer handed out.
