SANTIAGO -- Chile's monthly construction activity index rose 0.5% in March versus February (non-annualized).
In annual terms, the index rose 0.2%.
The monthly rise in March was the second one in three months.
Construction activity appears to have bottomed out last August; it has been on a slight upward trend since December 2014.
According to national accounts figures released earlier this week, construction GDP rose 1.0% in real terms in the first quarter of 2015 relative to the fourth quarter of 2014 and put the value of construction GDP 5% higher than the low set in the third quarter of 2014, even though industry figures continue to show
several indicators still on a downward trend (like construction materials and cement sales).
