China Rues New Anti-Dumping Measures by Argentina

BEIJING – China’s ministry of commerce expressed concern over new anti-dumping measures by Argentina against Chinese exports and asked the Latin American country to abide by the rules of the World Trade Organization, official media reported on Thursday.

The ministry expressed confidence that Argentina “will protect Chinese companies’ rights to appeal against such measures” and added that it has been advocating a “prudent, restrained and regulated” approach to trade remedy measures, commerce ministry official Wang Hejun said on Wednesday.

These measures “should be strictly in line with WTO rules and implemented in a fair and transparent manner,” he added.

On Dec. 7, Argentina launched an anti-dumping investigation against household dishwashers, steel pipes, food processing machines and other products from China.

Argentina has launched 11 anti-dumping investigations into Chinese products this year, the highest number of investigations in Latin America.
