BRIDGETOWN – The cruise ship Zenith, with Spain’s Pullmantur, once again is sailing the Caribbean after a complete remodeling, and it will return to the Colombian port of Cartagena on May 6 after sailing through the Antilles.
The ports of call on its current schedule include Santo Domingo and La Romana (in the Dominican Republic), Philipsburg (St. Maarten), St. John’s (Antigua), Castries (St. Lucia) and Bridgetown (Barbados).
Starting in May, it will be plying the “Antilles and Southern Caribbean” route, which includes Cartagena, the islands of Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire, as well as the Panamanian city of Colon.
The vessel was remodeled in late 2016 at the Navantia shipyard in the Spanish port of Cadiz, and among the renovations is “The Waves Yacht Club,” an exclusive space on board offering the most demanding passengers special food and drink services, among other perks.
In “The Waves,” cruise passengers can get away from the hustle and bustle on board and focus on reading, enjoy a private atmosphere in the English pub style, relax with friends and use the Internet service provided to the Zenith by satellite.
There is also a private solarium on board with deck chairs in which to catch a few rays, a drink bar and a freshwater shower to cool off.
Passengers enjoying the services of “The Waves” may also take advantage of priority disembarkation and embarkation services, along with assorted other comforts.
The Zenith also comes outfitted with new furniture and decor in its four bars and discotheque.
These changes come in addition to the recent incorporation of world-renowned Spanish chef Paco Roncero, who redesigned the vessel’s gourmet menu – served, as a matter of fact, on the other Pullmantur ships: the Monarch, the Sovereign and the Horizon.
The Zenith has 720 cabins that can accommodate up to 1,900 passengers, attended by 548 crewmembers.
The vessel also features two pools, a dry sauna, three jacuzzis, game rooms for both children and adults, a library, an Internet hall, a dispensary and a gym.
In addition, the Zenith had several duty-free shops, a casino and a spa.
Pullmantur’s services have been recognized by the Cruises News Media Group with its award for Best Crew on seven consecutive occasions and the award for Best Public Company, obtained on five occasions.
