Four Caribbean Leaders to Meet with Taiwanese President

SAN JUAN – Four Caribbean leaders were expected to meet Wednesday with Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou as he makes his second official visit to Belize.

After a welcome ceremony hosted by Belize’s governor-general, Colville Young, Ma was to hold talks with Prime Minister Dean Barrow, the Belizean government said in a statement.

The Taiwanese leader is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the prime ministers of St. Kitts and Nevis, Timothy Harris; St. Lucia, Kenny Anthony; and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves.

Ma is due to step down May 20, when President-elect Tsai Ing-wen will take office.
