SAN JUAN – Prime Minister Kenny Anthony said Wednesday that St. Lucia’s unemployment rate has declined from 25 percent to 20 percent since the end of 2014.
More than 5,000 people found jobs between December 2014 and December 2015, according to a statement from the prime minister’s office.
Joblessness in the 16-29 age group also fell, from 44 percent to 34 percent.
“There are opportunities opening up. New hotels are under construction and are opening up. New businesses are opening up,” Anthony said.
St. Lucia has a population of about 182,000 people.
