PUERTO PLATA, Dominican Republic – Two illegal Haitian immigrants are being sought in connection with the murder of Francesco Maniscalco, a 69-year-old Italian citizen, in the Dominican Republic, police said.
The man’s body was found in Montellanos, a town in the northern province of Puerto Plata, and he had been stabbed, police said.
Neighbors told investigators that Maniscalco was on friendly terms with the two Haitians, who disappeared after the killing.
The two suspects took some of Montellanos’s personal belongings after his murder.
“We’re looking for them to take them to court,” a police spokesman told EFE.
