Ecuador President Eyes Visa-Free Travel Deal with EU during Spain Visit

MADRID Ė Ecuadorís President Lenin Moreno said on Tuesday he was confident of Spainís ability to help negotiate visa-free travel for citizens of his country who were visiting the European Union.

Moreno took part in a conference in Madrid jointly organized by Spainís Agencia EFE and the Casa de America.

Moreno hoped Spain would take on the responsibility of proposing visa-free travel in the EUís Schengen area with the European Commission, as the Iberian nation had successfully done previously with Peru and Colombia.

Removing visa EU restrictions for Ecuadorians has been at the top of Morenoís agenda so far in his tour of Spain, during which time he has met with Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
