BERLIN – An exhibition and festival dedicated to cannabis and its uses opened its doors in Berlin on Friday, offering visitors a chance to explore the latest products and cultural events centered around the versatile plant.
With over 200 national and international exhibitors present at Mary Jane Berlin, cannabis for medicinal purposes, grow products, cosmetics, food, clothing and smoking accessories were among the items up for grabs, according to the organizers.
“Mary Jane Berlin wants to show the visitors the variety of the green power plant,” the organizers said on the event’s website.
Visitors would also have the possibility of attending lectures and discussions with cannabis experts, frequenting food stalls and seeing live concerts.
Over 20,000 visitors were expected to attend the event running from June 8-10, according to the organizers.
Having cannabis for personal use in the European Union is an offense, with the possibility of going to prison if found in possession of it in about two-thirds of member states.
In some EU member states, however, the offense is administrative and not criminal.
