LONDON – Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, began on Wednesday to write as a guest editor for a day at the British newspaper the Huffington Post to provide reports that will raise awareness about the mental health of children.
In a blog of the Huffington Post, Catherine lamented that parents are “embarrassed” to admit that their children need psychiatric help and “worried that the stigma associated with these problems would be detrimental to their futures.”
“Like most parents today, William and I would not hesitate to seek help for our children if they needed it,” she said.
Catherine comments mark the launch of a new editorial series entitled Young Minds Matter that explores the issue of mental health in children.
The Duchess of Cambridge launched a campaign on mental illness soon after her marriage to Prince William and she is also a patron of several charities related to this issue.
