BEIJING – The second volume of the Chinese president’s biography “Xi Jinping: The Governance of China” was published on Tuesday in both Chinese and English, according to state news agency Xinhua.
The second volume features a collection of Xi’s 99 speeches, conversations, instructions and letters, reflecting the development and main elements of the president’s thought, as well as dozens of photos of the Chinese leader taken between Aug. 18, 2014 and Sept. 29, 2017.
The second volume puts forward the practices of the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) Central Committee, with Xi at its core, to unite and guide the Chinese people to maintain and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era, publishing house Foreign Languages Press, which is closely associated with the Chinese government, said in a statement.
The inclusion of Xi’s political theory in the party’s Constitution was announced at the 19th National Congress of CPC held last month, which elevates the president to the level of the party’s top historical leaders, Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping.
The second volume is also expected to help the international community better understand the path, concept and model of China’s development, the statement added.
The first volume of the book, published in September 2014, has sold 6.42 million copies in more than 160 countries in 21 languages.
