PSG’s Mbappe Given 3-Game Ban over Reckless Foul

PARIS – Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe was banned for three games by the French Football Federation (FFF) on Friday for the direct red card he was shown in the Coupe de France final against Rennes.

The 20-year-old Frenchman was sent off after he fouled Rennes defender Damien Da Silva in the second half of the extra time of Saturday’s match that saw PSG lose 6-5 on a penalty shootout after the regular and extra time ended with both teams tied at 2-2.

Mbappe, the Ligue 1 top-scorer with 30 goals, is set to return to the field in the game against Dijon FCO on May 18.

Additionally, the FFF will begin disciplinary proceedings against PSG star Neymar Jr. for allegedly hitting a fan after losing to Rennes.

Both players, who have not attended the hearing on Thursday, were represented by their club’s secretary general Victoriano Melero and legal director Gregory Durand.
