Antetokounmpo Has a Double-Double as Bucks Reach 50 Wins

MILWAUKEE – Giannis Antetokounmpo put up a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds for the Eastern Conference-leading Milwaukee Bucks, who beat the Charlotte Hornets 131-114 at the Fiserv Forum on Saturday to pick up their 50th win of the season.

This was the second straight win for the Bucks (50-16) and their eighth in the last ten games.

The team has already secured a spot in the playoffs.

This is only the second 50-win season in the past 30 years for the Bucks, who went 52-30 during the 2000-01 season and reached the Eastern Conference finals. They have only won one NBA title in the history of the franchise, in 1971.

Antetokounmpo also made six assists and one block in 30 minutes of play, while Brook Lopez added 25 points with two assists and two steals, and Malcolm Brogdon and Nikola Mirotic scored another 18 each.

Mirotic played for 25 minutes, going 6-of-10 from the field, including 5-of-7 3-pointers, and 1-of-2 from the free throw line while making six rebounds and handing three assists.

The Hornets had led by four points at the half, but a dominant second half sealed a comfortable win for the Bucks.

“(Nikola Mirotic) played really well tonight and hit some big shots... He’s going to make the right plays and take the right shots. It’s fun playing with Niko,” Antetokounmpo said in a postgame interview.

“We came out with great focus in the second half... We came in and all agreed that we wanted to step up our focus and our mindset,” Lopez said.

“Brook (Lopez) was phenomenal... He just did a little bit of everything,” Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said after the game.

Eric Bledsoe and Donte Divincenzo made 11 points each for the Milwaukee team to round of a list of six players with double-digit scores.

“My thing is to just spark something off the bench and bring momentum,” Donte said.

The Hornets (30-36), who are placed tenth in the Eastern Conference, were led by Kemba Walker, who scored 25 points and had three rebounds and four assists.

Reserve Frank Kaminsky added 16 points while Nicolas Batum and Jeremy Lamb made 14 each.
