Russell Takes the Nets to 109-102 Win over the Celtics

NEW YORK – Point guard D’Angelo Russell scored 18 of his 34 points in the third quarter to help the Brooklyn Nets snap a 10-game losing streak against the Boston Celtics with a 109-102 win against them at Barclays Center on Monday.

The Celtics, who were without injured guard Kyrie Irving, lost their third straight game.

Center Jarrett Allen had a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Nets, who have won nine of their last 10 home games.

Rookie forward Rodions Kurucs also added 19 points, captured four rebounds and made two steals to contribute to the Nets win.

Forward Jayson Tatum, with 34 points, was top scorer for the Celtics (25-18), who lost games at Miami and Orlando at the start of their trip.

Guard Jaylen Brown was the second highest scorer with 22 points besides capturing six rebounds and making two steals.

Center Al Horford again failed to be a winning factor with eight points in 20 minutes of action, going 3-of-5 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
