MANCHESTER, England – Premier League leader Manchester City defeated Manchester United 2-1 on Sunday in the 16th round to pull out in front by 11 points, perched at the top of the British soccer rankings table.
David Silva scored the opening goal for Man. City in the 42nd minute, but Marcus Rashford netted the equalizer just five minutes later.
Nicolas Otamendi scored the winner for Man. City in the 54th minute to secure the Manchester derby win at Old Trafford stadium.
After this away win, Manchester City stretched its lead in the Premier League table with 46 points, 11 points ahead of No. 2 Manchester United.
Premier League defending champion Chelsea on Saturday suffered a 1-0 road defeat at the hands of West Ham, but remained in the third spot with 32 points.
