HANNOVER, Germany – Hannover 96 defeated Hoffenheim 2-0 on Sunday in the 15th round of German league action.
After a scoreless first half, Niclas Fullkrug opened the scoring for Hannover in the 59th minute.
With five minutes to go, Martin Harnik netted the second goal for Hannover to secure the home win.
After this win, Hannover is in 10th place, with 22 points, while Hoffenheim holds 6th place, with 23 points.
In the same round, Freiburg beat Koln 4-3 on the road, leaving the home team at the bottom of the Bundesliga standings.
Augsburg will host Hertha Berlin later on Sunday.
On Saturday, Bayern Munich defeated Frankfurt 1-0 to stretch its lead in the Bundesliga standings, with 35 points.
Leipzig, which played to a 2-2 home draw against Mainz 05 in the same round on Saturday, is in 2nd place, with 27 points, just one point ahead of third-place Schalke.
Borussia Dortmund was beaten at home 2-1 by Werder Bremen on Saturday, suffering its fifth defeat of the season and staying in 7th place, with 22 points.
