ABU DHABI – Mexico’s Pachuca on Saturday defeated Wydad Casablanca of Morocco 1-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Victor Guzman scored the winning goal for the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League winners at the 112-minute mark to lead his side to the semifinals.
Pachuca will next take on Brazil’s Gremio – winners of the 2017 Copa Libertadores – on Tuesday at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.
Casablanca had to play with 10 men from the 69th minute, when their captain, Brahim Nekkach, was sent off for a second yellow card.
Thirty minutes of extra time was tacked on after neither team managed to score over 90 minutes of regulation play.
