BEIRUT – Lebanese police revealed on Sunday that a British woman who worked in the United Kingdom’s embassy in Lebanon was found murdered, a security official told EFE.
The police found the dead body of Rebecca Dykes on Saturday in the Matn district, in the eastern portion of Beirut, Lebanon’s capital.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Dykes was strangled and raped, Lebanese media reported.
The security official added that a second examination will be conducted to confirm the cause of death.
The UK embassy confirmed Dykes’ death in a statement, adding that Lebanese authorities are investigating the case.
