MADRID – Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy praised on Sunday strengthening commercial and institutional relations with Colombia, after a meeting with President Juan Manuel Santos in Madrid.
Santos is currently on a European tour that included an official visit to Spain, where he met with Rajoy and thanked him for backing the peace process in Colombia.
“Meeting at the Moncloa (presidential palace) with Santos, president of Colombia, a close country we are united to thanks to excellent institutional and commercial relations that we will continue to strengthen,” said Rajoy on his official Twitter account.
The presidency’s office said they discussed the political situation in both countries, as well as the state of their bilateral relations and the main topics on the Ibero-American agenda.
On Monday, Santos is scheduled to meet King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia in the last event of his European tour, which has taken him through Italy, Germany and Hungary.
