HAVANA – Scientists, researchers and corporate representatives from 39 countries are attending the 5th Earth Sciences Convention in the Cuban capital.
The convention, which opened on Monday, will deal with a broad range of topics, including geosciences, geology, geophysics and petroleum exploration.
Countries must make better use of natural resources and be prepared to deal with threats of a geological nature, as well as climate change, Cuban Geological Society and organizing committee president Manuel Iturralde-Vinent said during the opening ceremony.
The Geosciences Fair begins on Tuesday along with workshops on oil and gas exploration, and drilling technology, as well as a symposium on the geology, exploration and production of nickel.
The “Geosciences 2013” program runs until Friday, featuring geology, geophysics, petroleum, mining and geoinformatics congresses. EFE
