MOSCOW – The body of Peruvian diplomat Sergio Alonso del Castillo Cebreros, who disappeared in the Russian capital early on the morning on New Year’s Day, was found Tuesday in a Moscow River canal, police said.
The body was found in the waters of the canal adjacent to the Kadeshashevskaya jetty, not far from the Moscow nightclub where Del Castillo Cebreros, a second secretary at the Peruvian Embassy, was last seen in the wee hours of Jan. 1, according to what a police official told the Interfax news agency.
“They managed to identify the diplomat from a tattoo,” said another police source quoted by the official Russian news agency Itar-Tass.
About 10 days after Del Castillo Cebreros was reported missing, authorities in Moscow ordered his disappearance investigated as a possible homicide. EFE
