Collision Leaves 6 Dead in Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA Six people were killed and 12 others injured when a cargo truck collided with a pickup near the northern city of Olanchito, Honduran media said Tuesday.

Several of the four adults and two children who died in the crash were members of the same family, according to radio stations in Olanchito.

The pickup truck ran off the road and flipped over after being struck by the larger vehicle.

Aboard the pickup were at least 25 residents of a village traveling to a religious gathering in Olanchito, media outlets said.

Honduran authorities have issued regulations aimed at limiting the number of passengers riding in the beds of pickup trucks. EFE
