Main Asian Markets Back on the Green; Shanghai Drops

SEOUL – The Seoul stock exchange’s benchmark Kospi index closed on Friday up 12.29 points – or 0.06 percent – to stand at 2,075.57.

The tech-heavy Kosdaq index rose 2.99 points – or 0.44 percent – to end at 686.33.

In Tokyo, the benchmark Nikkei index closed up 195.90 points – or 0.97 percent – to stand at 20,359.70 points.

The broad-based Topix index rose 7.72 points – or 0.51 percent – to 1,529.73 points.

Meanwhile, the Shanghai Stock Exchange dropped 0.74 percent – or 18.73 points – to 2,553.83 points.

The Shenzhen Stock Exchange gained 0.61 percent – or 45.4 points – to close at 7,474.01 points.

In weekly figures, Shaghai rose 1.55 percent, while Shenzhen gained 2.6 percent.

Also, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s benchmark Hang Seng index rose 0.55 percent – or 145.84 points – to 26,667.27 points.

The index rose 4 percent this week.
