LONDON – The British Museum announced on Wednesday that it will host the largest Manga exhibition to ever take place outside of Japan.
The Japanese visual storytelling art form is set to take over the iconic museum with the exhibit, titled “Manga,” in May 2019.
“This influential art form entertains, inspires and challenges – and is brought to life like never before in this ground-breaking exhibition,” The British Museum said on its website.
The display is set to showcase original illustrations, as well as explore how the art form has spread across the globe and influenced other disciplines such as anime – animated cartoons that draw heavily on Manga aesthetic – and cosplay, a performance art where participants dress up and adopt characters.
Manga is set to run from May 23-Aug. 26 at the British Museum in London.
