Wife of Spainís New PM Inaugurates Official Agenda: Royal Luncheon in Palma

PALMA, Spain Ė BegoŮa Gomez, the wife of Spainís recently appointed Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, inaugurated on Monday her personal official agenda alongside her husband at a luncheon hosted by the kings of Spain at their royal holiday home in Palma de Mallorca.

The official luncheon took place at Marivent Palace, two months after her husbandís appointment and soon after the Summer dispatch meeting between Spainís head of state and the head of government had ended.

Sanchez has always stated his wife ďis a very important personĒ in his life.

Gomez flew to Palma on Monday morning with her husband.

After the official dispatch between the king and Sanchez, she appeared, officially for the first time, posing for the photographers alongside the kings of Spain, with the Palace of Marivent in the background.

Both couples appeared smiling in the images released by Spainís royal household.

For the occasion, Gomez wore a white dress with blue flowers while Queen Letizia chose a flower printed dress in coral tones.

The king and PM respectively wore grey and blue suits with a tie.

The only previous time the PM and his wife have been seen together was July 20 when they attended a concert by United States band The Killers at the Benicassim Festival (Castellon).

Since Sanchez became Spainís PM, Gomez also attended on July 10 a fashion show in Madrid but went alone.

At the event, Gomez stated that ďSpainís fashion needs all the help and support it can get,Ē due to its relevant role in the countryís economy.

Sanchez and his wife married in 2006 and have two daughters: Ainhoa and Carlota.

Born in Bilbao, Gomez has worked for some years in a company that raises funds for NGOs.

It was this NGO connection that enabled her on June 13 to coincide with Queen Letizia at an award ceremony, hosted by UNICEFís Spanish charter to recognize former UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon.

She also accompanied Sanchez during his two previous Spanish general elections candidacies, (December 2015 and June 2016).
