UK’s Prince Harry to Attend Amsterdam AIDS Conference alongside Elton John

LONDON – Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, who co-founded a charity that helps children affected by HIV/AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana, is to attend one of the world’s most important conferences in the world on the subject of acquired immune deficiency syndrome and take part in a plenary session with the musician Elton John, Kensington Palace announced Monday.

The prince is scheduled to attend the International AIDS Conference in Amsterdam on July 23 and 24 and join advocates from Sentebale, the charity he helped create, to discuss the difficulties that young seropositive people face in southern Africa.

“On the second day of his visit, The Duke will join a plenary session with Sir Elton John to launch a new coalition of global AIDS funders – the MenStar Coalition,” said the Palace statement.

One of the coalition’s first plans is to launch an HIV testing campaign in Kenya, aimed at young men, the statement added.

Prince Harry had attended the 2016 edition of the conference, held in Durban, South Africa, where he also spoke with Elton John about the challenges HIV+ young people face.
