ABU DHABI – Uruguay and the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement for the exemption of visa requirements at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, signifying the formalization of free movement of citizens between the two countries.
The agreement will come into effect in a month and will allow citizens of one state to remain in the other as tourists for three months.
The memorandum of understanding, signed by the deputy foreign minister of Uruguay, Ariel Arturo Bergamino, and his UAE counterpart Ahmad Abdulrahman Al Jarman, for visa exemption between the two nations.
Bergamino told EFE that the document will facilitate the exchange of not only official and business visits but also flow of tourists from both sides.
