Nigeria Hammers Argentina 4-2 in Friendly

KRASNODAR, Russia – Nigeria came from behind to wallop Argentina 4-2 on Tuesday in a friendly match in preparation for the 2018 World Cup.

Argentine midfielder Ever Banega opened the scoring in the 28th minute, while striker Sergio “Kun” Agüero doubled the lead eight minutes later.

Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back for Nigeria in the last minute of the first half and Alex Iwobi netted the equalizer for the African side just seven minutes into the second half.

Nigeria moved ahead in the 59th minute with a goal by defender Brian Idowu and Iwobi scored again in the 73rd to seal the 4-2 win.

Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli chose to rest his superstar, FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi for the friendly with Nigeria.
