WASHINGTON – John Wall scored 32 points and made nine assists Wednesday night in the Washington Wizards’ 109-101 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in game two of the Eastern Conference playoffs first round.
Guard Bradley Beal added 31 points for the Wizards, with center Marcin Gortat contributing 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Washington, who led 51-43 at half-time, was able to maintain its advantage in the third and fourth quarters to register a 109-101 victory at the Verizon Center.
The Hawks, who entered the playoffs as the fifth seed, were unable to square the series, despite the best efforts of Paul Millsap, who recorded a double-double, posting 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Game three of the best-of-seven series will be played in Atlanta on Saturday.
